Job Description
The Assistant Educational Psychologist post is a training grade and the post holder will work under the supervision of qualified Educational Psychologists (EPs).
The Assistant Educational Psychologist will assist in the provision of a psychological service.
To gather and collate information to contribute to the early identification, assessment and review of children with additional complex needs following the Common Assessment Framework and SEN Code of Practice (1996).
To contribute to consultation activities for schools, settings and centres about children with additional and /or complex needs.
To draft recommendations for appropriate interventions for children with additional and / or complex needs.
To draft concise psychological advice under the 1996 Education Act, to be counter-signed by qualified EPs, and to contribute where necessary to Statutory Annual Reviews of children.
To contribute to psychological research and development activities promoting evidence based teaching and learning in extended provision including action research and activities linked to whole school / centre / cluster issues such as bullying and emotional health, evaluation of initiatives, and training with school staff using programmes in conjunction with qualified EPs.
To contribute to the design and delivery of effective training for teachers and others across a wide range of educational settings in appropriate areas such as behaviour management, effective learning, fostering high self esteem, circle time, anti-bullying approaches and critical incident management.
